League Bowling Should be Fun!





If you bowl in a league, I would be willing to bet that you do it to have fun. For most of us, if we bowled for the money or the glory, we would probably turn pro. The only problem with that is that most of us aren’t good enough to bowl professionally.



Enjoying your evening of bowling should be your number one priority. You want to go out and have a fun night with the boys(or girls). In short, you just want to have a good time. Taking this approach will have other teams looking forward to bowling against you. It will also go a long way to be certain that, win or lose, you will have fun!



Also, it is officially considered proper etiquette to allow one lane on either side of your lane before you bowl. I would like to ask if anyone has ever started their approach and had someone two lanes away zoom out ahead of you? I’ll bet you threw a bad ball, didn’t you? I would like to propose that, unofficially, we allow two lanes on either side.



On the other hand, if you are the type of bowler that has to win at all costs, then feels bad if it doesn’t happen, keep this in mind. Other teams cringe at the thought of having to bowl against you. They do this, not because you are a better bowler than them, but because they know you’ll zap the fun out of the evening. You know that I’m referring to you if, when things aren’t going well, your teammates bicker among themselves about how you(or Joe) lost the game for them.



As a rule, I think most leagues have at least one win at all costs team. Wouldn’t it be great if we could take all of these teams and put them in their own league? That way, they could all be miserable and have their own brand of fun. My guess is that I need to pinch myself and stop dreaming because, if they were all in the same league, there would certainly be multiple fist fights during the course of the season.



My actual hope is that, if even one of you sees the light, it will help at least some of us have a much more enjoyable evening. I’m not saying not to try your best, just have fun doing it!
